Pomorski Uniwersytet Medyczny in Szczecin is a state-owned public university with a full-time, intramural study structure. The following qualifications are held: a master’s degree program, a diploma of higher education, and a long cycle program.
The Medical Academy in Szczecin was founded on March 20, 1948, becoming the third university in the city. Initially, only the fourth year of study was offered, with an inaugural class of 60 candidates, many of whom went on to become distinguished scientists and educators.
In 1992, the institution was renamed the Pomeranian Medical Academy in Szczecin. On August 21, 2010, it underwent a further transformation, becoming the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin.
Since 2003, the university has actively participated in the Erasmus+ program, enabling students and staff to engage in international academic exchanges with partner universities in Norway🇳🇴, Germany🇩🇪, Italy🇮🇹, Spain🇪🇸, Portugal🇵🇹, Belgium🇧🇪, Turkey🇹🇷, Slovenia🇸🇮, and Lithuania🇱🇹.

The PUM University today:
The Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) currently comprises four faculties: Medicine, Medicine and Dentistry, Medicine and Biotechnology, and Health Sciences. Additionally, there are twelve faculties, 83 professors, and 70 habilitated doctors. PUM also operates two clinical hospitals, a dental clinic, and several out-of-department units, including the Atherosclerosis Research Center and the Regional Center for Monitoring Adverse Drug Effects.
The university is headed by Rector Prof. Dr. Hab. Andrzej Ciechanowicz, MD, PhD.
