Pomeranian Medical University

Pomorski Uniwersytet Medyczny in Szczecin is a state-owned public university with a full-time, intramural study structure. The following qualifications are held: a master’s degree program, a diploma of higher education, and a long cycle program.
The University has two majors that provide English studies:

  • Medicine
  • Dentistry

Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin has offered English language studies in the Faculty of Medicine since 1996 and in the Faculty of Dentistry since 2006. Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin now has approximately 1000 students enrolled in the English Program at both Faculties. More than 250 students have already graduated from their various Faculties. Every year, the University provides English studies with 120 seats for the Medicine major and 30 seats for the Dentistry major.

The Main Library of the University has permanent (free for students) access to the Internet databases such as; MEDLINE, SCOPUS, Science Direct, Wiley online Library, UpToDate; ERIC, Science Direct; Cochrane Collection; ProQuest Science and Technology; ProQuest Medical Library; EndNote Web; EBSCO; McGraw-Hill; MedTube; etc.

Furthermore, the University collaborates with a number of other medical institutions, hospitals, and clinics around Europe. Students with high marks are eligible to participate in the ERASMUS program and study abroad for one or two semesters. PMU has partnerships in place with universities in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.

Students perceive Szczecin to be a bustling city with a diverse range of social, cultural, and recreational opportunities. Learning about a different culture is an added benefit of studying in Szczecin. Naturally, medical studies consume a large portion of the students’ daily lives, but Szczecin offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities. Golf, football, and sports gyms are among the activities available, as are bowling, pool, and pub crawling. The city boasts a vibrant cultural life, with its own philharmonic symphony, opera, art galleries, and clubs, among other things. Our students frequently seek excellent locations to meet friends, relax, or simply enjoy a cup of hot coffee, and thankfully, Szczecin boasts a plethora of such establishments.

Because English Program students come from all over the world, studies at PMU provide not only an excellent education for future doctors and dentists, but also a fantastic opportunity to live and work in a diverse environment where one can learn a new language, understand another culture, and even observe different scientific approaches and techniques.
